We have an After School Club based at St. Peter’s which is run by Freedom Activity Camp. Freedom is a registered childcare provider that also runs after school clubs in St Luke, St Saviour, St Lawrence, First Tower and St Clement primary schools.
The St Peter's club was launched in January 2020. It is led by staff from St Peter's School and currently managed by Mrs Cindy Turmel.
Who is it for?
The club welcomes children from 3:00pm onwards and cares for them until 6:00pm. We are happy to register any children who are of primary school age.
All of the “full time” staff are qualified or working towards gaining qualifications in childcare. Most, if not all of the staff, already work in the school.
All staff are police checked and all staff will have satisfactorily completed the mandatory health check, child protection training, the level 2 food and hygiene course and will be first aid trained.
A staff to child ratio of 1:10 or better will be maintained at all times.
Is food provided?
The children will be offered a substantial snack shortly after arriving. The snack will consist of a choice of drinks and something to eat. The foods on offer may include: a slice of pizza, filled sandwich, filled roll, pasta or something similar followed by a piece of cake or an item of fruit. Parental preferences will be respected and where possible the personal likes and dislikes of the children will be catered for. The children may be able to bake or prepare the snack when it is appropriate to do so.
How much does it cost?
The cost is £77.50 per week although for parents who wish to register for fewer days, the charge is £15.50 per day 3:00 to 6:00. There is a 10% discount offered where two or more children from the same family attend together. Fees must be paid monthly over twelve months by standing order.
A discounted rate of £10.50 will apply if you pick up your child before 4:30.
Fees will cover all supervision, tuition, the snacks provided and the use of all equipment and materials.
The After School club is registered child care facilities and as such, parents may, dependent upon their individual circumstances, be able to claim a tax allowance on the fees paid. Tax certificates will routinely be sent out in January relating to the amount paid in the previous year.
Overall responsibility for the administration of the club and the organisation of the activities is held by Jim Westwater and Mo McDonald. Jim is an experienced educational administrator and has run Freedom Activity Camp for over 30 years. Mo is an experienced teacher and has been a club manager for several years.
